You work with your RDTI specialist to review and refine the allocations, aiming to make figures as accurate and defensible as possible.
Intelligent Apportionment
The platform calculates R&D expenditure apportionment by cross-referencing time tracking data from Jira, Azure DevOps, and other work management systems with financial records from Xero, MYOB, and other accounting platforms. Staff costs are allocated based on actual time spent on eligible R&D activities. Contractor costs are matched to specific R&D projects. Overhead is apportioned using methodologies consistent with ATO requirements. Your RDTI specialist reviews the output with you, identifying any adjustments needed to maximise your claim.
Supported Expenditure Categories
ExaRDTI supports standard RDTI expenditure categories including employee salaries and wages, contractor and consultant fees, materials and consumables, software and cloud infrastructure costs, and depreciation on R&D assets. Each category is tracked separately with appropriate substantiation.
Audit Trail
Expenditure figures in your claim are linked back to source records in your accounting system. ExaRDTI maintains a chain of evidence from the original transaction in your accounting system (Xero, MYOB, or other platforms) through to the final expenditure schedule submitted with your claim. This audit trail is available at any time and can be exported for review by the ATO if required.
Expenditure Schedules
The platform generates formatted expenditure schedules ready for inclusion in your RDTI tax return. Schedules are broken down by activity, expenditure category, and financial year, matching the structure required by the ATO’s R&D Tax Incentive schedule.
